Android 17 for Moto Edge 70 and Edge 60 Fusion : Release Date and Features
Android 17 is the upcoming major update, carrying many awesome features and bug fixes for Moto devices. The Edge 60 Fusion devices received the Android 16 update in most of the regions. But in some regions, the users are still waiting for the Android 16 update.
Moto Edge 70 is a midrange phone, launched with Android 16 operating system in October 2025, while Edge 60 Fusion is a predecessor device to Edge 70, came with inbuilt Android 15 OS, and updated to Android 16 in some regions. The next big update for these devices is Android 17, codenamed internally as Cinnamon Bun.
The Beta 1 of Android 17 came out for the eligible Pixel devices in February, 2026. The Beta 1 contains many visual enhancements like Material 3 Expressive design, native desktop mode support, better video codec VVC (Versatile video coding/H.266) and so on. Later, the second beta hit the Pixel testers running on Beta 1 in late-February.
Subsequently, third beta of the seventeenth iteration of android arrived on 26th March. Google noted that the Beta 3 is remarkable one in the development since Android 17 achieved platform stability. Android 17 Beta 3 is fully packed with new features like new screen recording toolbar and many under the hood refinements.
The Android 17 Beta 4 hit the Pixel owners running Beta 3 in mid- April, 2026. The Search giant noted that the Beta 4 is the final scheduled beta in the development of Android 17. However, later on June 2nd, 2026, Google released a bug fix update under the version 4.1 to fix some serious bugs in Beta 4. Lastly, the Mountain-view based tech giant unveiled the Android 17 final version officially on June 16th, 2026 and the eligible Pixel lineup owners started getting the update.
Android 17 Key Features
Material 3 Expressive is one of the key revamping feature which arrived with Android 16 QPR1 update delivered specifically to Pixel devices. Moto Edge 70 and Edge 60 Fusion devices are expected to get the this major revamp in User Interface with the Android 17 update. Some tech experts are saying that this is the major revamp in material interface after its initial debut in 2014.
Desktop Mode is another big thing which is coming with android 17 to moto devices. The next big update carries mature desktop mode with full taskbar, floating windows and so on.
In the Beta 4 of Android 17, Google changed the UI of notification panel, so that instead of ‘No notifications’ it appears as ‘You’re all caught up’ dialogue in case there no new notifications. Some reddit users reported that there is so much lag in UI while using PiP mode. The solution for that bug is turning off ‘Blur’ in accessibility settings. Google may fix the issue before the final release.
In beta 4.1, the Search giant fixed some issues, like signal bars, quick settings, external display and audio routing on bluetooth. The update imposed strict memory limits for apps, so that system stability is improved and app makers start optimize apps specifically for Android 17.
The key features of the update includes, real-time AI video enhancement, better AI integration, predictive UI, enhanced security standards and so on.
Live Updates
The seventeenth major version of Android is coming with modern feature called live updates which helps users a lot. With the rise in the food and quick delivery services, tracking of the delivery orders is an essential thing to do for many smart phone users. But in few delivery apps, users need to go to the orders section and open tracking to know the live location and estimated delivery time.
However, after updating to Android 17, Edge 70 and Edge 60 Fusion users just swipe down the notification panel straight from home screen or lock screen to get the approximate location and delivery time. The app notification itself show the approximate distance of the delivery partner and when they will arrive.
Android 17 Release date for Edge 70 and Edge 60 Fusion :
The Search Giant is trying to speed up the development of the android 17 update and expected to release the final beta very soon. Moto also about to start the soak test of Android 17 Beta as per the Reddit post.
Motorola has started the Android 17 Beta testing of Edge 70 and Edge 60 Fusion devices. Interested users can enroll themselves through the official channel , if the testing is available for their regions and wait for delivery of the Beta. Currently, the Beta of latest android is available in EMEA, Brazil and India regions and Motorola may include new regions very soon.
The final version of Android 17 may reach Edge 70 devices in Q3 of 2026 in Americas, LATAM, EMEA regions and in the remaining regions users may have to wait till Q4 of 2026. The Edge 60 Fusion device owners may get the next big update in Q4 of 2026 in some regions.

Update on 5/6/2026 :
Beta 4 and 4.1 arrived
Google released the Android 17 Beta 4 in May 2026. And noted that it is the final beta before final release. The Search giant released the Beta 4.1 on just now to Pixel devices who are Beta program. The Beta 4.1 of Android 17 contains crucial bug fixes only and not carrying any new features, as per the beta testers who have installed.
The Android 17 final release may hit the Pixel devices in mid-June or late-June 2026 as per the tech reports. So Moto may begin the soak testing of Android 17 for Edge 70 and Edge 60 Fusion soon.

Update on 12/6/2026 :
Yesterday, Google released the Android 17 QPR1 Beta 4 for eligible Pixel devices. The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are not in the eligible devices, so those users have to use custom roms to taste the latest version of Android.
The update contains many useful features for creators like option to use selfie Camera while screen recording, addition of keyboard toggle to Quick settings, increased spacing in Settings app and so on.

Motorola officially launched the Android 17 Beta Program for Edge 70 in EMEA region. Users can go to official link for testing to apply and wait for some time to get a chance to taste the latest android update. However, the beta testing slots are limited and all the applicant may not receive the beta immediately.
Users have to note the Android 17 is still in Beta phase for Edge 70 and may contain few glitches. But Motorola will continue to improve the Beta updates based on user feedback and soon release the final update.
Update on 19/6/2026 :
Android 17 officially came out on June 19th, 2026, then the rollout started for the eligible Pixel devices on the next day itself. The Pixel owners said that the update is one of game changers in the history of Android. The update contains numerous AI enhanced features which help users a lot.
The key features of the update include Material 3 Expressive design, Screen reactions, Pause point, live updates and many more. The Search giant already started development of Android 17 QPR1 update. The eligible Pixel owners interested in Beta testing already got updated to QPR1 Beta of Android 17.
